So I have found that I have a very bad addiction to fabric. The kind that depletes my bank account and makes it literally impossible for me to go into any fabric store and not leave with something. This last week it was a fabric with cupcakes on it. Thank you Robert Kaufman! I want to make anything and everything with it. It really is darling... I think I actually went "Oh my God, this is soooo cute!" aloud in the store. My husband wasn't quite as thrilled with it as I was, but no matter. It's not for him. In honor of this adorable print, appropriately called "Sweet Tooth," I am naming one of my store items after it: the Mini Cupcake Box Purse. Long title, sure. But this fabric deserves the credit. You can see it here. I bought it at Joann Fabrics.
Why is it always the day I have free that I'm in no mood to sew? Lately I've been feeling a sort of "wall" keeping me from really getting into my studio and cranking out some little goodies. Maybe I'm feeling spring cleaning fever already... maybe it's that my parents are coming to visit next week and my house looks like a disaster zone. And we don't even have kids... it's just two people's stuff! I desperately need to sort and discard. Even my cute cupcake fabric has been untouched since I bought it. I almost bought more of it yesterday... even though I hadn't touched what I'd purchased before! It's just that cute. Clearly, I have some issues.
My goal for this week: ease up on the swear words directed towards my sewing machine. It is inanimate and doesn't understand that I am very angry. It's pretty bad when my husband pauses his video game downstairs to come check on me because I'm yelling that loudly.
Grrr... I am too used to my seamripper. Not a good start to this project!

Welcome to Swing Station Studio!
Hello! My name is Heather, and I am the hands and mind behind Swing Station Studio. I am new to blogging, so here it goes. I guess I'll start with the basics: I make and sew little crafts and sell them on Etsy. There's a bit more to it of course but as I'm new to talking about myself, and you're new to reading about my silly life stories, I'll keep it short for now.
I hope to use this blog to discuss new designs, funny things that I just have to share with someone (lucky you!), and whatever else I come across. I might offer some specials for my store, or do giveaways... who knows! I could just go crazy.
I recently had my first real sale (exciting!!) from someone I DON'T EVEN KNOW! That's the best part... not from someone who bought something because they know me and want to support me, but a complete stranger who found my items on Etsy and wanted one. That is amazing and I'm really not done feeling giddy yet. I did have to buy a new printer to print out the invoice, which by the way is not really that fun. Too many choices, brands, too many details that seem to have no importance. Thankfully my husband is technologically inclined, and set it all up for me while I watched and ate all the sour candies my thoughtful mother sent me (us) for Valentine's Day.
Speaking of which, does anyone else feel a sense of being jaded this year when it comes to this holiday? I guess I'm actually relieved; no pressure to have a great gift or the perfect dinner reservation. Maybe some blueberry pancakes for breakfast and homemade fish tacos for dinner. Fancy? No. Delicious? Absolutely. Being somewhat of a newlywed still (last September for us), I find myself being sappy pretty much daily, so this holiday is nothing new for us. Just an excuse to eat little foil heart chocolates, really. Not that I'm complaining about that, either.
I also love cooking and reading cookbooks, so there might be random recipes on here, as well. You've been warned.
